The stainless steel plates used for curtain wall decoration are categorized into three main types
Commonly used stainless steel plates for curtain wall decoration are generally divided into three categories based on their structure: single plates (box-type, buckle-type, and cut plates), composite plates, and honeycomb plates
Stainless steel veneer: Due to its high strength, it can be used in high-rise and super high-rise buildings; its high toughness allows for bending or arc processing, enabling it to achieve various architectural appearance effects, which are not easily achieved with stainless steel composite panels and stainless steel honeycomb panels; its strong corrosion resistance facilitates convenient maintenance in the later stages. Given its numerous performance advantages, it is deeply favored by architects. Stainless steel veneer curtain walls commonly adopt a waterproofing method involving slotting and backing boards. This is because the surface of stainless steel plates has an oil film. Before applying sealant, it is necessary to first remove the oil stains from the surface of the stainless steel plate, and then apply a special primer, otherwise it will be difficult to ensure the bonding performance between the weather-resistant sealant and stainless steel.
Stainless steel clad plate: While retaining the excellent decorative effect and durability characteristics of stainless steel materials, it overcomes the drawbacks of difficult processing and poor processing flatness of stainless steel metal plates. It has good sound and heat insulation effects and can be easily processed for shearing, bending, grooving, edge folding, drilling, etc. However, when using stainless steel clad plates, the following factors should also be considered: corrosion resistance, strength, toughness, physical properties, and processing and forming capabilities of stainless steel. The stainless steel clad plate curtain wall is made of two layers of 0.3mm thick 316 stainless steel, which can be visually perceived as having a strong texture and metallic feel.
Stainless steel honeycomb panel: The face plate is made of brushed stainless steel plate or mirror stainless steel plate, etc., the back plate is made of galvanized steel plate, and the core material is aluminum honeycomb core, which are compounded with a special adhesive. The main characteristics of stainless steel honeycomb panel are: bulky, low installation load; each piece has a large area, extremely high flatness, and is not easily deformed; high safety factor; good sound insulation and thermal insulation performance; low cost, good quality, lower price than 2mm stainless steel veneer, but the flatness is close to 3mm stainless steel veneer. Stainless steel honeycomb panel also has strong corrosion resistance, large grid size, high surface flatness, and good thermal insulation performance.
Stainless steel materials will play a significant role in the future use of building curtain walls. We look forward to seeing stainless steel panel curtain wall buildings with higher flatness and greater brilliance standing tall among the urban architecture.
