Analysis on the Development and Advantages of Galvanized Angle Steel

Galvanized angle steel is produced by immersing metal substrates or components in molten zinc. Physical and chemical reactions take place with ambient air and other substances to form a metallic zinc layer on the surface. It is widely applied to metal facilities across various industries.

Galvanized angle steel is critical equipment for hot-dip galvanizing of steel strips. During operation, it endures long-term high-temperature oxidation and heavy loads, so material selection is extremely important. Years of experimental research have realized the transformation of its structure from complex to simple.

Early galvanized angle steel was made of cast iron, which features high carbon and silicon content, poor corrosion resistance and short service life. Later, manufacturers adopted pure iron steel plates. However, galvanized channel steel made of such material has low strength, tends to deform under high temperature and still has a short service life.

Zinc pots made of low-carbon and low-silicon steel plates can achieve a service life of 1.5 to 2 years under normal working conditions, which is still insufficient for steel strip production.

Multiple tests and practical experience show that the required heat supply for zinc pot manufacturing is 8360 kJ/h. Such a large heat transfer area cannot be realized, so conventional galvanized angle steel can no longer meet the demand. Under this circumstance, ceramic pots made of refractory materials with power-frequency induction heating were developed.
