Properties & Oxide Removal Treatment of 304 Stainless Steel Round Bar
304 stainless steel round bar is the most widely‑used Cr‑Ni austenitic stainless steel with outstanding corrosion resistance, heat resistance, low‑temperature toughness and comprehensive mechanical properties. It stays rust‑proof under normal atmospheric conditions, while regular surface cleaning is required for industrial or heavily polluted zones.
Surface dust particles trigger pitting corrosion. Dust deposits build narrow gaps that trap chloride‑rich moisture and break the passive chromium‑rich film. A galvanic cell forms between corroded spots and intact metal, accelerating pit propagation and service‑life degradation.
2. Eco‑friendly chemical pickling & passivation: Non‑toxic paste plus room‑temperature inorganic cleaning liquid for immersion treatment. The final matte natural stainless‑steel finish fits large‑size or irregular components and rebuilds a protective passive layer.
Material specification: Cr ≥16%, Ni ≥8%, C ≤0.08%. Inspection certificates must be checked on delivery. Separate storage from carbon steel avoids galvanic corrosion. Weld seams require post‑weld pickling and passivation.
